The VCOG maintains a complete Geographic Information System (GIS) database for the region which is used to help facilitate the agency's Transit, Transportation, Emergency Management, Land Use and Environmental Planning. In addition to in-house GIS projects, VCOG staff participates in the CT GIS User-to-User Network, bringing together GIS users from around the state to discuss GIS-related topics. On a regionwide basis, VCOG staff is part of the Northeastern Arc Users group which helps facilitate the exchange of ideas and concepts throughout the Northeast region. Lastly, VCOG staff has attended and presented projects at the annual ESRI International User Conference in an effort to stay at the forefront of the latest GIS technologies and keep up-to-date with software improvements.
